Mr. Delfalco is an antagonist present on Normal and Nightmare mode in Dead Signal.

Description[]

Mr. Delfalco is an Italian Caucasian man who wears a black straw hat, a long-sleeved black jacket, a white button-up shirt, black pants with a belt and dark shaded glasses. His weapon of choice is a bone saw. According to The Shade, Mr. Delfalco is a “professional cleaner” an individual involved in illegal crime scene cleanup and evidence disposal. He is described as being independent and has no known affiliations, preferring to work alone. Because of his professionalism he is leaving no evidence and avoids being seen or caught while working. Mr. Delfalco targets Ronald after considering him a potential witness to his activities due to him spoting Delfalco in the cameras.

Gameplay[]

When playing on Normal mode, Mr. Delfalco will appear on one of the cameras. Once being seen on a camera, the player receives a message from The Shade explaining who Mr. Delfalco is, and he becomes an active threat.

Delfalco will activate if the player is looking at him on camera for about 40 frames Depending on the FPS in which the game is running, it is possible to avoid activating him by switching cameras quickly enough. Delfalco can also appear on glitched cameras and it will count as viewing him, making avoiding him more difficult in these circumstances.

After being triggered, Mr. Delfalco can come out of the door on the far end of the hallway (opposite of the elevator) when the player is delivering a package to the specified floor. After opening the door, he charges at the player. If he gets to the player, he will tackle and kill the player using his weapon. If the player outruns him back to the elevator, the doors will close automatically (sending them back to the 9th floor), and he will stop moving and stare at the player as the doors close. It is possible to deliver a package and outrun Delfalco without dying.

Mr. Delfalco has an additional kill opportunity once triggered. He will occasionally spawn outside the player's apartment and whistle briefly. If the player does not hide before the timer ends (exact number of seconds unconfirmed, suspected to be 10), Delfalco will appear behind the player and kill them. The player will know when time has run out as they will hear their security system disarm. If the player manages to hide, he will enter the apartment and search for the player. Depending on how many lights are turned off in the apartment, his search time will be reduced. At the end, he will walk out of the door, and it will be safe for the player to come out. Assuming the player does not peek too many times, or exit their hiding spot, they will survive in their hiding spot of choice.

There is one other known kill opportunity. Delfalco will sometimes spawn on the roof when the player has to retrieve a package from the drone or fix the satellite dish's position. This event is cued by the sound of the elevator dinging and being called while the player is already on the roof. The player will then have a limited amount of time to seek out one of the two hiding spots on the roof in order to avoid Delfalco. His arrival is signaled by the elevator dinging again and him stepping on the broken glass on the rooftop. As long as the player once again avoids peeking too much or exiting their hiding spot, he is easily avoided.

Quotes[]

  • "Shit! That was Mr. Delfaco! I was monitoring your feed, and noticed you spotted him. This is a problem. Mr. Delfalco is a professional 'Cleaner', he is the one you send to clean up a body or two without leaving a trace of evidence. Works for no one, except himself, and he doesn't like to be seen. The whole 'evidence' thing.. Yeah well now you're considered a witness to him, and he is going to hunt you down and try to kill you. You have to hide if he is coming for you! All I know is he likes to whistle this creepy little tune when he is hunting his prey! So if you hear that, HIDE! Try turning your lights off so he doesn't stick around that long. And if you can't hide, RUN!! Run to safety as fast as you can and get away!" - TheShade's message about Mr. Delfalco after he is seen on a camera.
  • "Eccoti qui!" Translation: "Here you are!" (After Delfalco spots the player in the hall.)
  • "Dove sei?" Translation: "Where are you?" (As Delfalco searches for the player.)
  • "Tanto ti trovo." Translation: "I'll find you anyway." (As Delfalco searches for the player.)
  • "So che sei qui." Translation: "I know you're here." (As Delfalco searches for the player.)
  • "Non puoi nasconderti per sempre." Translation: "You can't hide forever." (As Delfalco searches for the player.

Trivia[]

  • Mr. Delfalco bears a striking resemblance to a character from the Reflect Studios game Masks of Deception. It is likely that Adam reused the same model for Mr. Delfalco, changing the textures to better match Dead Signals overall theme.
  • Mr. Delfalco has multiple voice lines, all in Italian.
  • While there is no confirmation of this, Mr. Delfalco's role implies that he may be part of a larger operation similar to Adam's, with some speculation leaning towards involvement in the New York underground mafia. Based on Adam's message sent in-game when Ronald spots him, it's likely that he is not involved in Adam's organization. Not yet, at least.
  • As of version 1.0.6., there is a bug that occurs when Delfalco encounters the player as they leave the bathroom after peeking too much. It's likely that it was intended for him to catch them off guard with his weapon and pull them aside. However, in this sequence, both he and the player are transported to a section of the map under the roof for the animation.
  • Another strange glitch that occurs is when he leaves through the C door on any hallway to pursue the player. Delfalco's knife is not attached to his model. Therefore, it will float up out of the floor and into his hand when he starts running, then float out of his hand and back down through the floor when he stops to stare at the player in the elevator.
  • In the non-canon Nightmare Mode ending, Mr. Delfalco appears alongside the other enemies, despite him usually operating alone and having no known affiliation with Adam or his organization.
